PHILOSOPHY

Hi,

I'm José Hernández. 

In my past experience as a visual designer, I had the opportunity to lead and mentor other designers (in teams as well as one-on-one). 

I have a clear vision that design to influence people and inspire them to interact.

As an experienced graphic designer, that lead art direction in projects, often times I felt there was a gap in the creative process. When the solutions I received from clients, felt misleading or incomplete for the real problem.

My quest for fulfillment

In my quest for finding fulfillment as a creative thinker, I consulted with various experts in the design field and that's when I found the field of UX/UI Design.

What called my attention was how structured the design thinking process is, including a research and discovery phase, followed by prototyping & testing, while continuously iterating.

Finally, a design process that made sense. In which is OK to test assumptions and discard the hypothesis that didn't work through testing. Always designing based on data rather than beliefs.

A look to the future

The world is moving at too fast of a pace to keep producing for creation sake. Creatives need to think better solutions and never be satisfied with the current results.

That's why I personally keep studying new technologies and design trends, by subscribing to various premium learning platforms, attending design events and consulting with top industry experts.

I believe in the power of teamwork. Collaborating with other departments and acting as a bridge of clear communication between technical and management teams. Where everyone's opinions are valued and encouraged, no matter their seniority in the company.

I'm eagerly looking for new opportunities to grow and connect with new people. To make the world a better place through creative strategies.

Creative Strategist | Greko Printing  2016 - 2018

  • Rebranded company image & established brand guidelines.
  • Manage the creative team of 2 designers and collaborate with the marketing department to implement new digital strategies and content.


Graphic Designer | Image360  2016

  • Work with the internal creative team, marketing, and external agencies to manage the development of concepts to its final production stage.
  • Create new design ideas to enhance existing clients brand materials resulting in more incoming projects for the company.


Lead Graphic Designer | Fast Signs  2015 - 2016

  • Implemented automatized tools to improve workflow and cut down time on repetitive tasks.
  • Responsible for overseeing the production’s team performance and deadlines of deliveries. Saving materials used, increasing revenues in the project’s budget.

  • Restructured the print layout and designed the Visiones’ Magazine digital version for Apple newsstand as well as an HTML version for diverse mobile devices.
  • Gained more than 12,000 followers on the social media page (Facebook) after I took over to design Visiones’ fan page promotional images.
  • Design websites and create the brand identity for various clients.
